SAINTS Game Day Dim Sum Brunch
Basic Brunch skipped into SAINTS Sunday Brunch confident
we would be coming home with a win. Our
hangover from Saturday’s LSU game and champagne pool day couldn’t stop us from
enjoying pregame brunch. Although the
game was not the beat down we had pictured, and actually left us with a bad
taste in our mouths wondering what kind of season we are in for. We still
miraculously ended the game with a win.
Hopefully, it only gets better from here on out.
Now on to the good stuff this week’s gameday brunch was
at Maypop for their Dim Sum Brunch. This was a unique experience, I have never
actually had Dim Sum so I was really excited to try it out, and what better way
than brunch? So what exactly is Dim Sum? It is a style of Chinese cuisine
prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets
or on small plates. Dim Sum is prefect for sharing with a group. In addition to
having the Dim Sum brunch menu, Maypop served game day drink specials which we
obviously had to partake in.

They started us out with an Amuse-bouche, a curry
Beignet. We ordered 4 items from the dim
sum menu and 2 items from the regular menu.
The soup dumpling (we had two orders) was the most unique item we tried,
although we struggled we the proper way to eat the dumpling. Here are some
instructions so you don't make the same mistake we made. Place your soup spoon
close to the dumpling. Grab the dumpling close to the knot with your chopsticks
and gently lift it from the steamer. Poke a hole in the dumpling to let the
steam out and let it cool for a few seconds, then suck the juice directly out
of the skin. Now you can eat the rest of the dumpling without fear of being
burned.

For SAINTS noon,
home games Maypop opens at 9:30 am for Dim Sum Brunch, this a variation
from their regular hours of operations, before heading out make sure to check
to see if they are open. Their location is perfect for walking to the Dome
after brunch and if you arrive when they open you might be lucky enough to find
free on the street parking pretty close by.
